House In The Wild - Ol Choro Oirua
Recently renovated, this private house is ideal for
families, and guests looking for a little privacy. Set on
the banks of the Mara River, House in the Wild has an
amazing view of the river. It’s well manicured lawn
stretches under a grove of large trees and is well shaded.
There are 3 double bedrooms and a central sitting room and
dining room with a cozy fireplace.
For those who would rather have the independence and privacy
of a secure house, with the Masai Mara as your own back
yard, this is the perfect spot. For those who would like to
do a self-drive safari without the clicking of cameras from
other visitors, this is your chance. Without having to take
your camping kit with you, we offer a fully furnished house,
complete with a kitchen with fridge/deep freeze, gas cooker
and jiko-oven and all utensils and cooking equipment as
well. A cook is also available to use as you like, so you
can come back after sundowners on the plains to a hearty
meal prepared from your own food (if you choose the self
catered option) or from our menu for the guests on full
board terms. Directions: By Air: Direct flights from Nairobi– Ngerende twice daily.
We are a short 20 minute game drive from the Ngerende strip.
Transfers are available. By Road: From Narok take the tarmac road for about 55km to
the Mulot turn off. (You will see a green fuel levy sign on
your left, the Mulot turn off is just after this) There will be signs to the Mara Safari Club, follow these.
Follow this dirt road for about an hour and a half (approx
30km). At the first fork, keep right, at the second fork
(there is a burnt out car on the right) keep left. At the
third fork where there is a sign for M.S.C pointing left,
take the right hand fork. You will then follow an electric
fence on your right and you will come to a t-junction with
an electric fence straight ahead of you, take the right turn
and you will come to the Olerai main gate. Take the gate to
the left and a guide will meet you at the main office.

The
Masai Mara experience has remained the
once-in-a-lifetime dream of safari lovers ever since the
days when hunters thronged the region in search of the
ultimate black-maned lion trophy. Natural home to the “Big
5” game, a safari to Kenya cannot be said to be complete
without it. During the months of August to November,
thousands of visitors get down to the Masai Mara to witness
one of the most spectacular phenomena on earth. Stretching
as far as the eye can see, a teeming mass of zebra,
wildebeest, and topi, trailed by scavengers make way into
the Mara plains from the Serengeti, in what is known as the
Great Migration. It is estimated that over two million animals take part in
the journey. When planning for a holiday it is recommended
that you set aside 3-5 days in order fully appreciate your
stay at the Mara. The Mara Simba Lodge sits overlooking a dramatic bend on the
bank of the Talek, a tributary of the Mara River, gently
blending into the surrounding wilderness. Stretching almost
a kilometer along the river the grounds on the bank remain
in their virgin condition, while the landscaped gardens
filled with indigenous trees at the back draw a great
variety of birds and butterflies. The lodge was conceived
with an emphasis on exclusivity and comfort. It was designed
to complement its surroundings and is decorated in Masai
traditional style. Wide, well-lit pathways connect the
Public areas and rooms. At the Mara Simba, special care is taken to conserve the
environment. The Mara Simba is the only truly environment
friendly lodge in Kenya as it is the first to install a
sewage treatment plant. The plant provides crystal clear
water that is used for irrigation. The 84 guest rooms, arranged in clusters of 6 in each
natural wood and stone Banda ( 4 rooms on the ground floor,
2 interconnecting rooms on the first floor), comprise 60
twin rooms, 12 double, 4 double & single and 8 triple rooms.
They all have en-suite showers, tiled bathrooms with natural
granite and Twyfords, (UK) bathroom fittings. Each spacious
room, which can easily accommodate an extra bed, opens onto
its own private veranda with uninterrupted views across the
river. |

Located at the very centre of the famous
‘Mara Triangle' of the world-renowned Masai Mara National
Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate safari
destination. Set high on a bush-cloaked hill with long views
over the savannah and down to the winding coils of the
hippo-filled Mara River, it stands centre-stage to one of
Africa's most dramatic wildlife arenas, with a ringside seat
for the ‘greatest wildlife show on earth', the legendary
migration of the wildebeest.
Styled to echo the circular motif of a traditional Masai
manyatta, the lodge blends international sophistication with
raw African beauty, while featuring twin rows of individual
rooms, each with its own view of the famous Mara River. The
central bar and dining areas enjoy spectacular views, as
does the rock-surround swimming pool. Each
luxuriously-presented room is accommodated in its own
stand-alone modular unit, with uninterrupted views, private
balcony and spacious seating area. Activities include three
daily game drives in custom-built traditional safari
vehicles, ‘sundowners' in the bush, breakfast by the hippo
pools, balloon safaris and exotic Masai bush suppers.
Word renowned for the breathtaking spectacle of ‘the
greatest wildlife show on earth', the awe inspiring annual
migration of the wildebeest, the Mara is Kenya's most
visited protected area. Technically an extension of
Tanzania's renowned Serengeti National Park, the Mara
constitutes only 4% of the entire Serengeti ecosystem but
its rolling grasslands, meandering rivers and towering
escarpments offer one of the world's most rewarding and
evocative wildlife arenas. |
Located on the slopes of Oloongams Hills, it is one of the
first lodges to be built in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Guests are drawn to this lodge built in an ethnic design,
surrounded by a rich landscape, covered in fauna, from huge
desert cacti to sweet smelling jasmine flowers, all within
the fabled Masai Mara game reserve. Location 240 kms from Nairobi, approximately 5 hours on tarmac and
all weather murram road, situated outside the park. Flying
is one hour to the nearest airstrip which is 30 minutes
drive to the lodge. |
