 Birding Watching Safaris in Kenya

Edge East Africa Safaris offer carefully planned birding safaris in some diverse ecosystems within Kenya. Birding Safaris need a bit of time to be able to locate every bird habitat. We have quite a number of birds in Kenyan parks and therefore our bird watching safaris need more that seven days to be able to visit different sites.

The great bird viewing locations are:

  • Kakamega forest - in western Kenya for the great blue Turaco and many other forest birds.
  • The savannah grassland consists of bushes and thorn trees south east and some parts of North East Kenya suitable for small birds, weavers, warblers and quite number of rollers.
  • Lakes, rivers and mash areas are a good attraction area for a aquatic birds, e.g. Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria, Amboseli National park and Samburu Game Reserve.
  • We also have other areas in the costal town; 150km from Mombasa will bring you to a town called Malindi. 5 km from Malindi you will find Sabaki River which is home to the richest and most diverse habitat for birds in the whole of Kenya. This location is a good  area  to sport birds like sounders terns, sooty  gull, lesser crested tern, Madagascar’s Printincole ( a  migrant from the south , usually  seen  from May to September ) this makes Sabaki  an important bird watching area. You can also visit Arabuko Sokoke forest .Dakatcha woodland in the same area.

Itineraries:
