Tour Summary:
This is a 13
day luxury Kenya and Tanzania safari traversing through Kenya's and
Tanzania's best game parks, with a chance to see East Africa's rich
wildlife and cultural heritage. This safari takes you to Samburu and
Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and
Serengeti national park in Tanzania. That Kenya and Tanzania are the
true safari countries and that between Kenya and Tanzania, are the
most diverse and abundant wildlife in the whole of Africa is
unquestionable. Views of a spectacular scenery and varied ecosystems
across these two countries is as fascinating as the diversity of the
peoples.
Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Nairobi
Welcome to Nairobi where you will be met by an Edge East Africa
Safaris representative. Depending on your arrival time (evening
arrivals) you may be transferred to a Nairobi hotel for overnight
stay or (morning arrivals) you may begin your safari on the same
day.
Day 2: Nairobi-Samburu
Your adventure starts this morning boarding a light aircraft for a
flight to the northern frontier and semi-arid region of Kenya
Samburu National Park. You will be received and booked into your
tented camp along the Uaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Park
before setting out on your afternoon game drive. Samburu’s size and
diversity make it a wonderful park for game viewing. Look for the
reticulated giraffe - unique to this area of Kenya. Accommodation at

Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve
Take morning and afternoon game drives provide opportunity to search
for the elusive leopard, frequently spotted in Samburu. Look for the
gerenuk - nicknamed the giraffe gazelle. The gerenuk can stand on
its hind legs for long periods of time, allowing it to reach the
succulent leaves at the top of tree branches. Accommodation at

Day 4: Samburu - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Depart Samburu National reserve in the morning in a light aircraft
that takes you to Kenya’s most famous game reserve, the Masai Mara.
After lunch, take time to settle in, have your cameras and
binoculars ready for an afternoon of superb game viewing. The plains
of the Mara are frequently dotted with hundreds of wildebeest,
zebra, impala and other plains game. Accommodation at

Day 5: Masai Mara
This is the big cat country, so your chances of seeing several of
the big cats are very good. It’s not uncommon to drive very close to
a pride of lions dozing beneath the shade of a tree, but you might
have to search a bit harder for the smaller leopard who prefers
snoozing on higher tree branches. Among the more than 450 species of
birds recorded in the Mara, at least 53 of them are raptors. Enjoy

Day 6 Masai Mara-Nairobi
Board a light aircraft flight that takes you back to Nairobi in the
morning. Stop for lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant before visiting
Karen von Blixen’s former home. Continue to the Giraffe Center where
you have an opportunity to feed the Rothschild giraffe and learn
about this special mammal. Overnight accommodation at Fairview Hotel

Day 7: Nairobi - Tarangire
Drive south from Nairobi and cross the border into Tanzania,
stopping in Arusha for lunch. Your drive then takes you south of
Lake Manyara into Tarangire National Park. The Tarangire River
flowing through the park attracts large concentrations of wildlife
in search for water. Settle into your tented camp sitting in the
midst of a prime migratory area before heading out on an afternoon

Day 8: Tarangire
Rise early in the morning for the first of two game drives today.
Tarangire is famous for its elephant population, but you will also
spot a wide variety of plains game. Bird viewing here is fantastic,

Day 9: Tarangire - Ngorongoro
Take a drive along the Rift Valley through Karatu to Gibbs Farm.
Enjoy a delightful farm-house lunch with time to walk the grounds
and visit the Iraqw Tribes people. Continue on to your lodge on the
lower slopes of Ngorongoro. Accommodation at

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater
A breathtaking scene awaits on this morning’s with a descent into
the on the floor of the crater. The diversity of ecosystems from
open grassland to forest area brimming with yellow fever trees,
helps support a wide variety of wildlife. You’ll find large
concentrations of zebra and gazelle and predators like lion and
hyena right along with them. Later, take a visit to a nearby Maasai

Day 11: Ngorongoro - Serengeti
Leave Karatu in the morning with a first stop at Olduvai Gorge, the
site of the famous discovery of “homo habilis” - a direct ancestor
of modern man. Then, continue across the plains into the Serengeti
national park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, get
ready for an amazing experience as you take a game drive in the
Serengeti national park. Accommodation at

Day 12: Serengeti
You cannot describe the Serengeti without using a superlative. The
sheer size and expanse of the plains spread out around you is
awesome and the number of animals as far as the eye can see is
simply amazing. The Serengeti is perhaps most famous for the annual
migration of millions of wildebeests and Zebras and other predators
tugging along from the Serengeti National park and across into the
Maasai Mara in Kenya. Game viewing here is superb all year round.
Plains game, big cats and hundreds of bird species can be found at

Day 13 Serengeti - Depart
Your safari comes to an end today as a light aircraft flight takes
you to Arusha town. Stop for lunch before driving to Nairobi to
