Day 1: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru National Park |
0800hrs: Depart Nairobi and drive Westwards through the
fertile highlands of Kenya and suddenly, to your left, the
trees part to reveal a spectacular view of the Great Rift
Valley floor with Mt. Longonot – a dormant volcano - at a
far distance. Stop briefly to absorb the spectacular view
and then descend into the Rift valley making another stop at
the lake Elementaita (A Soda Ash Lake measuring about 18 sq
km in size. It is home to tens of thousands of flamingos.).
Leave Lake Elementaita and continue driving west. Arrive at
Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Sarova Lion hill Lodge.
After lunch you will rest briefly before taking a late
afternoon game drive in the Lake Nakuru National Park which
is famous for the flamingos.
The ecosystem comprises of the alkaline lake, surrounded by
mainly wooded and bushy grasslands and hills. The park
supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater
and Lesser) and other water birds being the major
attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56
different species of mammals including the white rhino,
buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering
nearly 450 species.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Lake Bogoria |
O800hrs: After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch and drive

Nakuru with a game drive en-route. Dinner and overnight at

Lake Bogoria is a shallow soda lake north of Nakuru. If
you’re lucky and the conditions of Lake Nakuru are not quite
right, Lake Bogoria could be covered with flamingos. If not,
there’s still other attraction, like hot springs and
geysers. The surrounding habitat is drab scrub, so there’s
not much chance of seeing wildlife.
Lake Nakuru is the perfect place to experience one of the
world's largest ornithological spectacles, the Pink
Flamingo, or a rich concentration of wildlife including
black and white Columbus monkey and is also a famed Rhino
Sanctuary.

only park in Kenya where you are allowed to walk. Later in
the evening, return to Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort
for Dinner and overnight.
An ornithological paradise and home for hippopotamus, Lake
Naivasha is also a birdwatchers fantasy. It is surrounded by
Mount Longonot, an extinct volcano standing at 2,777 m of
altitude. At Hell´s Gate gorge with its steam jets, and
Fischer's Tower a pinnacle of soaring rock, game abounds and
the rarest of Kenya's birds of prey, the Lammergeyer nest.
There are over 450 species in the immediate area including
the highland escarpments, which surround the lake to the
south and west. On Lake Naivasha, pelicans and cormorants
are numerically superior but pride of place must go to the
African Fish Eagle whose haunting call remains as
significant to lake visitors as does the roar of a lion in
the parks.
