Day 1:
Nairobi – El Karama (Laikipia)
0700hrs: You will be picked from Nairobi for a 3
hour drive to El Karama Ranch. On arrival, you will check in
your lodge at El Karama Lodge before lunch Followed by an
afternoon game drive till dusk. Later after Dinner you will go
for a night game drive in ranch before returning to your lodge
for overnight.
El Karama Ranch is home to over 75
species of mammal, 350 species of birds and a stud herd of
Sahiwal cattle. Wildlife conservation and preservation of the
natural bush-land is the greatest concern on this 14,000 acre
working ranch. It has been the Grant family home for over 40
years. The El Karama Ranch bandas provide a comfortable and
affordable retreat in a stunning piece of wilderness on the
banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River
Various accommodation options
include four double bandas, a family cottage, and a spacious
rondavel, all with individual bathrooms. Facilities include an
attractive communal dining area which overlooks the Acacia clad
Ewaso Nyiro River and a fully equipped kitchen. El Karama offers
a full board and a self catered option as well as natural
campsites.
Day 2: El Karama Ranch Laikipia
Spend the day in the Ranch with the following
activities of choice:
Day and Night Game drives
Walking safaris with ranch trackers
Camel Rides, Bird Watching
Fishing in the Ewaso Nyiro river
Full board accommodation
Day 3: El Karama – Nanyuki – Old
Moses Camp
After Breakfast you will be dropped at Sirimon
Park gate and trek for 3 - 4 hours through the rain forest to
Old Moses Camp (Judmeier) through a beautiful forest with East
African Pencil Cedar trees, Poducarpus trees and the giant
Hygenia trees. From Judmeier camp you can see the summits of
Batian and Nelion peaks: 9kms. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses
Camp.
Day 4: Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s
Camp
After breakfast, trek through the moorland
viewing high altitude flowers, animals and birds. The hike goes
through Liki and Mackinders valleys getting a splendid view of
the Tereri and Sendeo peaks. You arrive at Shipton’s camp (4200
m) after a 6-7 hours hike. From Shipton's camp the northern side
of the Nelion and Batian peaks can be seen. Dinner and overnight
at Shipton’s Camp.
Day 5: Austrian Hut
Ascend for about 4 hours through Simba Col to
reach Australian Hut (4790 m). An early rest is required to
prepare for hike to point Lenana. Dinner and overnight at
Austrian Hut.
Day 6: Point Lenana
After early morning tea, ascend the summit of
point Lenana (4985 m). You will have breakfast at Mintos hut.
You then descend through the beautiful and scenic Chogoria
trail. You descend up to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas. Dinner and
overnight at Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas.
Day 7: Chogoria
After breakfast, descend in 6 - 8 hours trekking
through the tropical rainforest to Chogoria town. On arrival in
Chogoria town check in at Transit Hotel. Dinner and overnight at
the hotel.
Day 8: Chogoria - Nairobi
1000hrs: check out of the hotel and transferred
to Nairobi.
Cost Part I: Mountain climbing
6 Days Climbing Mount Kenya = US$ 820 per person
Cost Includes; Transport from Nairobi to Nanyuki, 3 meals per
day while trekking,5 nights accommodation while trekking,
transfer from Nanyuki to park gate, park fees, English Speaking
Mountain Guides and Porters, Accommodation at Nanyuki Simbas
lodge.
Excluded in the cost is equipments/Gear: Gaiters, Sleeping Bags,
Head Lamps, Walking Sticks, Warm Outer Jackets, Warm
Fleece-Lined Trousers, Warm Gloves, Rain Jacket and Trousers,
Waterproof Duffel Bags for Gear.

Cost part II: El Karama Ranch
2 nights El Karama Lodge US$ = 690 per person
Includes: Accommodation and all meals, conservation fees,
transport in a 4X4 safari vehicle in a pop up roof, services of
an English speaking guide, Day and night game drives, Guided
bush walks/treks and Government taxes.
Excludes: Drinks, extras at the camp sites and items personal in
nature.
