Day 1: Nairobi – El Karama (Laikipia) |
0700hrs: You
will be picked from Nairobi for a 3 hour drive to El
Karama Ranch. On arrival, you will check in your lodge
at El Karama Lodge before lunch Followed by an afternoon
game drive till dusk. Later after Dinner you will go for
a night game drive in ranch before returning to your
lodge for overnight.
El Karama Ranch is home to over 75 species of mammal,
350 species of birds and a stud herd of Sahiwal cattle.
Wildlife conservation and preservation of the natural
bush-land is the greatest concern on this 14,000 acre
working ranch. It has been the Grant family home for
over 40 years. The El Karama Ranch bandas provide a
comfortable and affordable retreat in a stunning piece
of wilderness on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River
Of the well known African big game, El-Karama is home
to; elephants, hippo, buffalo, elands, impalas, gemsbok,
crocodiles, lion, leopard and cheetah. In addition to
these there are such species as the rare and
geographically restricted includes the, grevy’s zebra,
the unique Laikipia hartebeest, Oryx antelope, and the
unusual reticulated giraffe. Recently African hunting
dogs have also reappeared on the ranch.

Spend the day in the Ranch with the following activities
of choice:

Day 3: El Karama – Lake Nakuru. |
After breakfast, depart El Karama and proceed to the
famous lake Nakuru national park, often referred to as
the Pink Lake for its great flocks of flamingos. Besides
birds there is a variety of wild game. Arrive in time
for lunch. Take an afternoon game drive till dusk.
Lake Nakuru National park lies in the Great Rift Valley,
140km north-west of Nairobi. The ecosystem comprises of
the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy
grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological
diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other
water birds being the major attractions of the area. The
ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of
mammals including the endangered Black rhino and
buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering
over 400 species.
Flamingo Hill is a small and exclusive Tented. The tents
are furnished with the understated luxury required by
the modern traveler. Decorated in calming safari tones,
natural woods, wrought iron and crisp cottons each tent
has been meticulously planned to maximize comfort. The
Lake Nakuru National Park is also home to a huge colony
of flamingo and the endangered black Rhino.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Naivasha |
Go for a pre breakfast game drive and after breakfast,
depart for Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch at
Naivasha Sopa Lodge before going to the lake for
a boat ride. On the other end of the lake, you will get
a chance to take photos with wild animals at close
range. Later, return to the shore in the evening and
return to Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge for
Dinner and overnight.
An ornithological paradise and home for hippopotamus,
Lake Naivasha is also a birdwatchers fantasy. it is
surrounded by Mount Longonot, an extinct volcano
standing at 2,777 m of altitude. At Hell´s Gate gorge
with its steam jets, and Fischer's Tower a pinnacle of
soaring rock, game abounds and the rarest of Kenya's
birds of prey, the Lammergeyer nest. There are over 450
species in the immediate area including the highland
escarpments, which surround the lake to the south and
west. On Lake Naivasha, pelicans and cormorants are
numerically superior but pride of place must go to the
African Fish Eagle whose haunting call remains as
significant to lake visitors as does the roar of a lion
in the parks.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha - Nairobi |
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch for a 4 hour
visit to Hell’s Gate National Park. Later in the
afternoon proceed to Nairobi.
