Day 1: Nairobi - Aberdares National Park |
Depart Nairobi for Aberdares National Park to arrive in
time for lunch at Outspan Hotel. After lunch and some
lazing and easy rest, proceed to the
Treetops is the original tree lodge, and is world famous
for its location facing a water hole and a salt lick in
the Aberdares National Park as well as its historical
royal connection. In 1932, its first visitors gingerly
climbed the wild fig tree supporting the two-room tree
house. Treetops welcomed a young English girl, its most
famous visitor. This young English girl climbed the tree
as a princess one afternoon, to descend the following
morning as Queen Elizabeth I I, her father, King George
VI, had died during the night.
Mount Kenya's breath taking view is
visible on clear mornings.
Treetops have open balconies for viewing
and photography; two photographic hides at ground level
at either end of the lodge allow really close shots of
unsuspecting animals.
There is an optional buzzer in every room
that alerts the guests if something special were to show
up at night.

Day 2, 3: Aberdares National Park – Samburu
National Reserve |
1000hrs: After breakfast, depart for Sweet Waters Game
Reserve stopping briefly at the equtor view point and
later proceed to Sweet Waters Tented Camp arriving in
time for lunch.

Game reserve lies astride the equator and is dissected
in the middle by the equator.
Sweetwater's Tented Camp offer magnificent views across
the plains to the snow capped peaks of Mount Kenya. The
luxury tents overlook the waterhole, floodlit by night,
providing excellent and secluded rarely seen game
viewing. This game sanctuary is home to all the big five
game, and has the highest ratio of game-to-area of any
park or reserve in Kenya. At Sweetwater's, there is
plenty to do. Game drives at Sweetwater's are indeed a
pleasure.
A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set
in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta
Conservancy, Sweetwaters Tented Camp offers a charming
blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury.
The camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with
its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. The
Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing
hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers unrivalled
wildlife-watching.
Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five' (elephant,
rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), the conservancy has a
higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national
park and is one of only four private game conservancies
to have been founded in Kenya. At the forefront of the
Kenyan conservancy programme, the conservancy boasts the
largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the
only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large
numbers of rare and endangered species.
