day before taking the safari

Day 1
& 2: Arrival in Kilimanjaro International
Airport and Transfer to Moshi Town |
|
Depending on your time of arrival, you will be
transferred to the Kilimanjaro Marangu Resort at
the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro in Moshi town for
the overnight.(Full Board). Spend the following
day resting and acclimatizing. |

Day
3: Machame |
|
0830hrs: You will be picked by our Mountain
guide (Denis) and drive to the Machame Park Gate
at 1800m, from where steepening trails lead
through natural rain forest to a campsite in a
clearing on a ridge, (3000m, 5hr) |
|
Day
4: Shira |
|
The
path continues up a moorland ridge through giant
heathers. It gradually becomes rocky before
leveling out on the Shira Plateau. (3840m,
4-5h.) |
|
Day
5: Barranco |
|
A
rocky path leads east up towards the Lava Tower,
dramatic views of the Breach Wall precipices.
Shortly beyond this it descends to Barranco
campsite (3950m, 4-5h) |
|
Day
6: Karanga |
|
Scramble easily to the top of the Great Barranco
and then a traverse over screes and ridges to
the Karanga Valley campsite (3h, 4000m.),
beneath the icefalls of the Southern Glaciers. |

Day
7: Barafu |
|
The
trail ascends a ridge to a campsite by the
Barafu Hut, an airy location with little
vegetation (3h, 4600m.), |
|
Day
8: Mweka |
|
Start
just after midnight for the ascent of the screes
leading to Stella Point (6h, |
|
5725m). From here a further 40 minutes leads to
Uhuru Peak. Descend to the Barafu Hut |
|
for a
rest and brunch before continuing down to camp
at Mweka Hut at 3100m, (11-14h total walking
time). |

Day
9: Moshi |
|
A 3-4
hour descent through beautiful forest brings you
to the Park Gate. Drive back to the Hotel in
Moshi arriving in time for lunch. |

Day
10: Moshi
Spend
the day at your own leisure. Full Board at
Kilimanjaro Marangu Resort |
|
Day
11: Moshi – Lake Manayara
0800hrs depart driving via Arusha for Lake
Manyara. Arrive in lake Manyara Campsite in time
for lunch. Take an afternoon game drive. Dinner
and overnight at the Campsite. |

2: Camping Safari and Zanzibar

Day
12: Lake Manyara |
|
0600hrs: Take early morning game drive in the
Park and after breakfast depart for Serengeti
National Park with picnic lunch and Game drives
en route. Dinner and overnight at Seronera or
Lobo Campsite.
The Lake Manyara National park is serene and
beautiful with main attractions of a rich bird
life, tree-climbing lions, its elephants, and
hippos that you can see at closer range than
most other places. Lake Manyara is an alkaline
lake and at certain times of the year hosts
thousands of flamingos and a diversity of other
bird life. Although it is one of the smallest
parks, its vegetation is so diverse enabling it
to host a variety of wildlife habitats. |

Day 13: Serengeti National Park |
|
Full
day of game viewing in Serengeti with picnic
lunch in the park. Dinner and overnight at camp.
The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of
Tanzania's protected areas, which altogether
make up some 14% of the country's land area, a
conservation record that few other countries can
match. Serengeti is also a premium Safari
destination I the whole of Africa with
unrivalled numbers of wildlife in its name. |

Day 14: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro
Conservancy |
|
0800hrs: Following your morning game drive,
depart for Ngorongoro Crater with a game drive
en route and an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge
Museum. Dinner and overnight will be at Simba
Campsite.
The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest
whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is
arguably the most stunning arena. It is
frequently described as one of the wonders of
the world, not only because of its geological
magnificence, but also because it serves as an
extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of
Africa’s largest populations of large mammals.
Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are
volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing
process that created the Rift valley 15 to 20
million years ago. |

Day 15: Ngorongoro |
|
0600hrs: After an early breakfast descend into
the crater floor for a full day crater tour with
picnic lunch. Ascend the crater later in the
afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Simba
Campsite. |
|
|
|
Day 16: Ngorongoro – Arusha Town |
|
0730hrs: After breakfast, depart for Arusha Town
with a game drive en route arriving in time for
lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred to
Arusha Airport. The flight departs at 1300hrs
and arrives in Zanzibar at 1435hrs. You will be
met by a dhows palace hotel staff and
transferred to Dhow palace hotel. Spend the rest
of the day relaxing. (Bed & Breakfast) |

17,18 : Zanzibar |
|
While
in Zanzibar you can liaise with the hotel to
organize either of the following excursions.
Stone city tour, spice tour, Jozani Forest tour,
Prison island tour among other tours. (Bed &
Breakfast) |

Day
19: Zanzibar |
|
After
your morning activities, at 1400hrs, you will be
transferred to the airport in Zanzibar to board
your return flight to Arusha departing at
1500hrs and arriving in Arusha at 1700hrs.
On
arrival in Arusha airport, at 1730hrs you will
be met by our driver and transferred to
Kilimanjaro International Airport arriving at
1900hrs (approximately 1 hr drive) |
