Manyara |
0730hrs: After breakfast depart for the border town of
Namanga 1 hr drive. Go through immigration and
customs, before you cross into Tanzania.
Then Proceed to Arusha arriving in time for lunch. In
Arusha, you will be met by our Tanzania Safari Guide and
after lunch depart from Arusha town to Lake Manyara Park
for a game drive.
Lake Manyara National Park is a small but scenic safari
park, excellent for bird watching and a good area to
find elephant, as well as the potential excitement of
spotting a legendary Lake Manyara tree-climbing lion.
Lake Manyara is a good soft introduction to the safari
experience in Tanzania. It is a magical and pretty park
that winds its way around a mainly forested driving
route between the banks of Soda Water Lake and the
impressive rise of the Great Rift escarpment. Elephant,
giraffe, buffalo and wildebeest can be found grazing in
unexpected clearings or heading towards the water to
drink or wash, and the rivers and riverbeds provide
scenic vistas for possible animal spotting.
Warthog seem to thrive here, growing notably fat and
tusked, and it is a natural playground for baboons and
monkeys. The tree-climbing lion of Lake Manyara inspire
extensive theorizing as to the wonders of evolution, and
are also notoriously rarely seen.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Hotel.

Day 4: Lake Manyara -
Serengeti National Park |
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch for Serengeti
National Park with game drives en route. Stop briefly
and visit The Olduvai Gorge a pre historic site before
proceeding to Serengeti.
This land is justifiably famous for its huge
concentrations of wildlife, especially the big cats, as
well as being the stomping ground of the Great
Migration, a massive accumulation of 1.5 million
wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 350,000 gazelles
stretching their legs over 1,200 miles in an annual race
to find enough water and green grass for their survival.
During July, the migrating herds are still in the Masai
Mara across.
The National Park is broadly divided into three distinct
areas, the Seronera Valley and Seronera River, the
Western Corridor and the Northern Lobo area that extends
northwards through the Lamai Wedge to the Maasai Mara.
Most visitors enter the Serengeti through the southern
Naabi Hill Gate, which opens onto the Seronera Valley; a
vibrant wildlife area at the heart of the Serengeti.
In the evening go for a night game drive before
returning to the camp.
Dinner and overnight at Ikoma Tented Camp.
|
Day 5: Serengeti National
Park |
Spend full day in the park with morning and night game
drives. Dinner and overnight at Ikoma Tented Camp.
Set in the midst of an incredible vista of savannah and
skies, sheltered in a grove of acacia trees is Ikoma
Tented Camp. Simplicity and rustiness are the ambiance
of the camp. Ikoma has 31 semi-luxury traditional Meru
tents each under thatch with its own en-suite bathroom,
modern furnishings and a private veranda. The central
restaurant and bar area boast a large camp fire - an
ideal spot to unwind with a drink after a long days
exciting game viewing.
Ideally situated along the path of the migrating
wildebeest between Kenya and Tanzania, the camp is
situated at the border of the world-renowned Serengeti
National Park. There you will find yourself on probably
one of the best game drives in the area - along the
western corridor of the park, taking in Kirawira and the
Grumeti River - home to the infamous wildebeest-eating
giant crocodiles. There is no better place to take in
one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles.
As the camp is located just outside the national park
boundary it is possible to do night drives and guided
game walks. The night drives are a unique opportunity to
see some of the nocturnal animals that one usually only
hears about, such as Leopard, Aardvark and Bat-eared
foxes. Learn and experience firsthand the sounds of the
African bush at night - a very different 'creature' from
the one seen during the day! A game walk with a ranger
is an incredibly exciting and safe way to experience the
bush and its inhabitants at close range. Choose an early
morning walk followed by breakfast in the bush or
sundowners at the close of the day.

Day 6: Serengeti
Ngorongoro Conservancy Area |
After breakfast depart with picnic lunch for Ngorongoro
Conservation Area with a game drive en route. On arrival
descend 2000ft into the crater for a half day tour of
the crater.
Ngorongoro is a fascinating and unusual Conservation
Area which includes the Ngorongoro Crater at its centre,
and then extends through the Crater Highlands, in which
local tribes are permitted to maintain their traditional
lifestyles in as natural environment as possible.
This extraordinary volcanic landscape is rich and
fertile, with stunning craters and lakes.
The Crater is also referred to as the eighth wonder of
the world and stretching across some 8,300 sq km. In
the evening ascend to the lodge for dinner and overnight
at Crater Forest Lodge.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact
caldera in an exceptional geographical position, forming
a spectacular bowl of about 265 sq km with sides up to
600m deep. It is the stalking ground of 20 to 30,000
wild animals at any one time.
The crater floor consists of a number of ecological
environments that include grassland, swamps, forests and
Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by the Munge
River. All these various habitats attract various
wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb.
Although animals are free to move in and out of this
contained environment, the rich volcanic soil, lush
forests and spring source lakes on the crater floor tend
to incline both grazers and predators to remain
throughout the year.
Later Ascend back to the top of the crater for Dinner
and overnight at Bougainvillea Safari Lodge.

later used as a quarantine Hospital, it has a frangipani
lined path around the island where the former patients
took their evening walks.
Apart from the Prison ruins you can also see the
beautiful peacocks and the enormous giant tortoises some
of which are over 100 years old.

Sultan Said in the 1820's. Efforts are being made to
protect the eggs of the tortoise.

schools of the bottle-nosed dolphins, here you are taken
by boat out into the sea to view the dolphins and if
lucky will be able to swim quite close to them as they
are very friendly and playful, Kizimkazi is also the
site of a 12th Century Mosque, the earliest evidence of
Islam in East Africa.

Dhows Palace.
After breakfast, spend the morning at leisure and later
you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport to catch a
